In a critical operation, the army successfully defused three sophisticated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Imphal, the capital district of Manipur. The IEDs were discovered during routine surveillance patrols along the road connecting Nongdam and nearby villages, 46 km from the city. Swift action by the soldiers ensured the area was secured, and a bomb disposal team was promptly deployed to neutralize the threat, preventing a potential disaster.
The discovery comes amid ongoing ethnic tensions between the Kuki and Meitei tribes in Manipur, where normalcy is yet to be restored over a year after clashes erupted. Security forces remain vigilant, closely monitoring villages near the Imphal Valley foothills. Efforts are ongoing to locate those responsible for planting the IEDs.
