Former Israeli Ambassador to India, Daniel Carmon, has suggested that India might be supplying arms to Israel amid its conflict with Gaza. He indicated this could be a gesture of gratitude for Israeli support during the 1999 Kargil War against Pakistan. Carmon noted that Israel was one of the few nations to provide India with weapons during that period, including guided munitions and drones.
Speculative reports suggest India has recently supplied drones and artillery shells to Israel, possibly to aid in its ongoing war with Gaza, which has seen severe shortages of military supplies. In February, media claimed that India sent advanced Hermes 900 drones, produced in Hyderabad, to Israel. Additionally, a cargo vessel carrying 27 tonnes of military supplies from Chennai to Israel was reportedly intercepted by Spain in May.
Despite these reports, the Indian government has not confirmed or responded to Carmon’s remarks. The conflict between Israel and Gaza, now in its eighth month, has resulted in significant casualties and displacement.
