Andhra Pradesh BJP elections co-in-charge Siddharth Nath Singh met with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu to congratulate him on the NDA alliance’s sweeping victory in the recent general elections. The NDA coalition, comprising TDP, BJP, and Janasena, achieved a resounding win in Andhra Pradesh, securing 21 out of 25 parliamentary seats and 164 out of 175 assembly seats. The TDP alone claimed 16 Lok Sabha seats, with BJP and Janasena winning three and two seats, respectively, leaving the YSRCP with only four parliamentary seats. This victory marks a significant turnaround from the 2019 elections, where the YSRCP dominated with 22 seats.
In the assembly elections, TDP won 135 seats, Janasena 21, and BJP eight, with YSRCP reduced to just 11 seats. The substantial win for the NDA alliance is seen as pivotal, especially with the BJP not securing a majority in the Lok Sabha on its own. The electorate’s preference for the NDA is attributed to their promise of progressive governance, highlighting a shift from previous election outcomes.
