The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is almost here, just a month away. But, India’s star player Virat Kohli hasn’t secured his spot in the 15-member squad yet. People are guessing where he’ll bat when India faces Ireland on June 6.
It’s expected that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will make the team. They hadn’t played T20Is for over a year after the 2022 World Cup loss but returned in January 2024 against Afghanistan.
Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and others think Kohli should open with Rohit Sharma. However, Harbhajan Singh prefers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit as openers.
He suggests Kohli should bat at no.3. He mentions having a mix of left and right-handed players at the top.
Harbhajan also talks about using the best players for different situations.
Yuvraj Singh thinks having Rohit and Kohli in India’s squad is crucial. He suggests they might retire from T20I cricket after this World Cup.
India’s first match is against Ireland on June 5 in New York.
